Proverbs 29:15
A proverb about raising children that applies to everyone you love. DeWayne Dunko on correction, neglect, and drifting.

It was the 29th of the month, so the group read Proverbs 29. Verse 15 sounds like parenting advice, but DeWayne's point is that it reaches every relationship. A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom. Leaving someone undisciplined brings disgrace.
This isn't about the strict parent versus the fun parent. It's about whether you show up. If a friend, a parent, or a coworker is heading the wrong way and you say nothing, that's neglect dressed up as kindness. People left unattended almost always drift in the wrong direction. So do we.
Hardly anyone commented, and DeWayne said that's fine. Some passages aren't marshmallows. They're a steak you chew on for a while. The question to chew on: who have I left alone that I should talk to?
