Ephesians 6:14
The first two pieces of armor: truth that holds everything together and Christ's righteousness that guards the heart. DeWayne Dunko on Ephesians 6:14.

The armor series continues with verse 14: stand firm with the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness.
For a Roman soldier, the belt held up the tunic and carried the sword and gear. Everything hung on it. As a builder, DeWayne calls truth the foundation: if it's crooked, everything above it is too. God's Word is truth, and the enemy's weapon is the lie. You can't resist a lie you don't recognize, so you have to know the Word, not just hear about it on Sunday.
The enemy's lies aim straight at the heart: the drugs, the people you hurt, the failures as a parent or spouse. The breastplate is Christ's righteousness, not ours. Unconfessed sin doesn't cancel salvation, but it leaves gaps, so confess and keep the breastplate in place.
One participant tied it to James 4:7. Wearing the armor and resisting the devil makes him flee. Another was struck that the belt, the piece that holds everything together, is the one Paul calls truth.
