The man who never met Him

"For we live by faith, not by sight." DeWayne points out who wrote that. Paul never sat with Jesus during His earthly ministry or heard Him preach in person. Yet he endured prison, beatings, shipwrecks, a snakebite, and finally death for Him.

Faith and works together

Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as the evidence of things not seen, and James says faith without works is dead. In week one at the gym you don't see results. You keep lifting anyway. You pray for a new job and you also apply. You hope your kid's team wins, and you also coach them.

Microwave versus Crock-Pot

A pastor once put it this way: we have a Crock-Pot God, not a microwave God. He still does miracles, but most things develop over time.

Letting go for real

DeWayne admitted his struggle isn't handing a problem to God. It's taking it back thirty seconds later. One participant named that double-mindedness and said the answer was faith, not fear.

Try this

  • Give God one thing you keep picking back up, and write down the date you let it go.
  • Read Hebrews 11 and notice how many of those people never saw the promise fulfilled.
